I have officially Finished the Mad Men and the Army Girl dress. These are the two dress designs I had to make to pass into the next sections of my pattern making course. I tried them on in class, had them approved by my teacher and have gotten my new assignment-pockets leading into pants.
I really wish I wasn't making the "gah I have allergies" face in this pic.
I have more information about the two dresses, and more pictures under the

It is an Alexander Henry Print-Naked Camouflage Lady's.
Does anyone remember my "sexy man" print dress? This is the companion :)
First off, I don't have to make anything with piping for a really, really long time. Or if I do I am going to buy the piping instead of making my own - way to much effort for a summer dress.
I am VERY happy with the finished result, with the exception of the pockets, they are still acting weird. No matter how much under-stitching, tacking, or re-drafting I do they still want to peak out over the piped edge. At this point I am letting it go...It stands out to me, but I am really not sure anyone else will notice, and they are much better than they were before.
Also, I am really digging the chunky-ness of the 26" separating zipper.

This is essentially the same pattern as the camouflage dress with a more fitted skirt. I made this to wear to the GBACG Man Men cocktail salon. At a thrift-store I found an adorable Vintage hat/head/thing made from grosgrain ribbon and veiling. That along with some light colored stocking will complete my outfit. Although, I don't really have appropriate shoes, probably not going to buy any because of $.
If I had had more fabric (This was a $5 stretch cotton sateen remnant) I would have played with the placement of the floral motifs more. Having the lycra blend makes this dress much more comfortable to wear, it is very fitted. It made it a ROYAL PAIN IN THE ASS to sew . Any time I got near the waistband it stretched out. Eventually after removing about 2" of dress and a heavy-duty steaming it decided to behave it' self. Also because of the stretch, I used woven fusible cut on the bias, and sewed with a narrow zig-zag stitch.
I have finally gotten really good at putting in invisible zippers, it is all in the right presser feet. I did however, forget how to sew a back vent so I had to ask my teacher...after all that, I forgot how to sew a vent...it was a *face palm* moment.
Also, the vote for my jacket has reached 39 votes, um, I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
