I have been working on this corset on and off for about a year now, and FINALLY have something worth showing. It all started when I was working at Darkgarden and saw a beautiful cupped corset being made for a client (Dita Von Tesse no less!) and decided to attempt making one. I started by combing the pattern for my silver victorian overbust (http://izodiea.livejournal.com/8367.html#cutid1) and a bra pattern I had from a class I took. The idea was simple enough...but four mock-ups later I had FINALLY worked out all the pattern bugs...I hope.
The corset is made from Olive dupioni silk left over from my polonaise gown (http://izodiea.livejournal.com/13684.html#cutid1) fuzed to black coutil. The lining is some black Luis Vuitton print cotton from Peidmont fabric in Oakland. Black corset busk, and black grommets.
The corset still needs some boning put in, and the busk stitched down (I'm using a borrowed machine right now, so I don't have a zipper foot)

That post was from back in March, when I finally got around to start sewing up the corset. When I finally bought a new machine and sewed the busk in, I was extremely angry to discover I had out-grown the corset, mainly in my bust measurement. I let it sit for awhile after that because I could not stand looking at it, then last week I got the urge to work on it again. Some draping and mock-ups later I finally had myself some new usable cups. They are still not fitting 100% as i'd like, but I am at the point where I really just need this to be Finished .

Here is where I would like your advice: Despite the new cups, the bust on this corset is still to small. In the photos above The waist and especially the hips are laced loosely, but the bust/upper back is as tight as it will comfortably go. The front armholes (cup side) dig in slightly, but I am worried about cutting it down. The side/back armhole cuts into my armseye very badly and is quite uncomfortable. Unfortunately, their is also a bone very close by so I can't really cut it down without making binding difficult.I can cut vertically, but not horizontally. Thoughts? Help?

also, I had originally wanted a light sprinkling of rhinestones across the busk and upper-back. Do you think that would be too much? Color suggestions?

Minor thoughts: There is a bubble in one cup I need to let out and re-stitch. I need to make a back modesty panel...and find the little front one I made. My black busk has already started to chip and I havn't even worn it anywhere yet! :(
