For the Second project in my creative draping class we had to make a Georgette motif Dress. The process was to design the motif and place it on the manniquin. The rest of the fabric was then draped going around the motif in a circle. The end result was the very bizzare looking pattern piece above.
This is the first project: http://izodiea.livejournal.com/17237.html
The Drape:

The Drape was made with Polyester georgette supplied by the school on a size eight mannequin . The Motif covers about 1/4 the waistline. The rest of the dress is all one piece seamed at the center front and Back because of the bias (and fabric width). The lining was draped and had darts (Teachers requirement)

For my motif I seamed together some scraps of fancy metallic and pearlized leather.

This is the finished dress (Shown on my uniquely you, which is larger than my schools mannequins) I ended up using the same school supplied Georgette for the outer layer, but bought a light peach georgette for the lining. The back has an invisible Zipper. The final look ended up feeling very bridal to me, so I built on that by adding a few details...

Sequins trapped between layers for a subtle sparkle.

Glitter! The spray can said it was suitable for apparel, but they lied!!! Glitter is floating off everywhere! (That is also why my mannequin is wrapped in plastic)
